Is this possible?!?!

Hey guys, I am a 2024 grad working as a financial data analytics and strategy analyst for a fortune 100 company with an ib internship coming from a big 10 school and great credentials within the university (great gpa, leadership position). Super interested in getting into consulting will be applying this summer, but what are the odds I get MBB-T2. If it is possible any tips other than just case prep until then? Thanks in advance. x

Odds are pretty low. IIRC there isn't that much lateral hiring right now, and you'll be competing against consultants who have relevant experience. A referral would be pretty important to getting a look

For better or worse, consulting firms typically hires analyst through very well-established pipelines (i.e. internships and senior-year full time recruitment), and coming from outside of those pipelines is very difficult

Do you think it’s at least worth a shot?? I have a friend in MBB who would give a referral so that might help and if I do end up being seen because of that and do great on the cases, I don’t see why not unless I’m being too optimistic. Otherwise, would it have to be the MBA route then in a few years? X

I would say probably still worth applying. You can apply multiple years in a row and hope the market picks up, and then if you still haven't made the move then MBA is your best bet.

Not familiar with US recruiting timelines so can't figure out how much work experience OP will have when they apply, but would they not likely come in as a graduate analyst and  not a lateral hire? In MBB UK, it's common for people with 2yoe to come in as analysts.
