Literally bored out of my mind most of the time. If it didn't offer a stable 6 figure salary, not sure I would keep doing this.
Recently started taking a finance class online (and a strategy class) online, through the HBX program and McKinsey Academy respectively. Both are following the Case Method and the Case Studies we are completing along with the analytical problem solving has been extremely refreshing.
Is it time to seriously start considering an MBA program?

I've done projects mainly for financial services and hospitality clients (along with a few in the Energy and Telecommunications sectors).
One project I did focused on the social media strategy for a large hospitality client - and followed that up with actually implementing the technology to monitor their brands along with a sentiment analysis engine that monitors social channels to pick up on varying degrees of positive/negative sentiment specific to each brand.
I've also worked with multiple financial clients to build out their Mobile Channels including mobile banking applications, mobile deposits/mobile payments capabilities. Recently worked with another financial client to integrate their sales and service teams and increase their product offerings to customers through online, mobile, and contact center channels.
I also worked on a mobile sales application with a telecommunications giant for their Agents to perform door to door sales or handle requests.
The tactical implementation or execution part is what gets mind-numbing and dull after a while. Project Management and Business Analysis (working with business/system requirements) is not fun. It's not intellectually challenging, and while I can definitely say the teams I've worked on made a huge impact and contribution to the way our clients business is performed (through new technology and digital channels), I feel silo-ed even though I'm a technology generalist.
Just a question about mobile banking in general. Does the bank you are working with have a mobile banking app that allows transferring money only with a phone number? My bank has a widely popular app that only needs the telephone number of the recipient, and nothing else. All you need to do is type in the number, amount and then press send. I has been a huge success in my country, and I am wondering if other countries has something similar too.
Agree that MBA can be an option. But at the same time I think you need to be critical and thoughtful in figuring out what makes your work boring. You don't want to transition to a new career path just because it's not tech consulting and then realized that there's nothing stimulating in that domain neither ( especially after an MBA degree). Non-tech consulting projects can be just as boring or worse ( process mapping, developing training material).
Conversely, there are certain practices in tech that can be fun. I work at a non-elite consulting firm in their digital strategy practice and I find my current project to be very intellectually stimulating actually. We are helping the client to come up with a data strategy enabling advanced analytics scenarios in the future(robotic process automation, AI and real-time analytical insights). We are speaking with different functions of the organization to understand their key decision points and how cutting-edge analytics can transform their operations. It's really giving me an opportunity to see what are the key value drivers in their business and what direction is the industry is heading towards to.
