KPMG Strategy Associate Interview

Has anyone heard about how KPMG strategy interviews go? They sent me an email that my interview will be scenario based and not structured like a typical case interview. If anyone has interviewed for this position and has insights it would be greatly appreciated!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights about KPMG strategy interviews:

  1. Scenario-Based Interviews: Unlike typical case interviews, KPMG's strategy interviews may focus on scenario-based questions. This means you might be presented with a specific business situation and asked to analyze it, propose solutions, and discuss potential outcomes.

  2. Preparation Tips:

    • Understand the Firm: Research KPMG's recent projects, their approach to strategy consulting, and any relevant industry trends.
    • Practice Problem-Solving: Be ready to demonstrate your analytical and problem-solving skills. Think about how you would approach real-life business problems.
    • Communication Skills: Clearly articulate your thought process and solutions. Being confident and articulate is crucial.
  3. Interview Dynamics:

    • Flexibility: Be prepared for a variety of questions. The interview could range from high-level strategic questions to detailed operational issues.
    • Engagement: The interviewer might be looking to see how you think under pressure and how you approach problem-solving from real-life examples.
  4. Fit Interviews: Some interviews might focus more on fit, assessing your confidence, articulation, and point of view. They might ask about your experiences and how you handle pressure.

You've probably already had the interview, but I also interviewed in this division. First was all behavioral and situational, and the second was almost entirely technical. Strategy is very technical at KPMG, and mine was all analytics topics. Everyone I talked to beforehand said it would be only behavioral, no exceptions, but I'm studying analytics in undergrad so most were fairly simple.
