Landing MC summer internship with subpar expereince
I am a sophomore econ major at Northwestern and am very interested in management consulting. I have a 3.85 and decent extracurriculars but I'm worried because my internship experience over the past two years has been very mediocre.
For what its worth, I do have things to talk about in interviews (case competitions, etc.) but I really feel like the lack of any impressive work experience will prevent me from landing a competitive summer internship before my senior year.
Any advice on compensating for this in other parts of my resume?
You're kidding, right? 3.85 from NU and decent extracurriculars, you're fine. Worry less about beefing up the resume and more about killing it in the interviews next year.
Depends on what you mean by "subpar experience," but seems like you should be okay. But make sure to do a good amount of networking. For internship recruiting, we rely more heavily on networking and our impression from those conversations because there are so few spots and such little data (from the resume) to go on.
3.8 from northwestern alone is enough for you to network with. Speak to as many ppl as you can and talk about your case competitions. You will have no prob finding alumnus from Northwestern.
