Lateral into an entry level role?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is a set practice for lateraling with less than 1.5 years of experience? Is there an advantage to lateraling into an entry-level role from one type of consulting to management consulting at a Big 3 or should one wait until post-MBA? Thanks in advance.

I mean... do your research? You'll never know 100%, but there's plenty of stuff out there and people to talk to, in order to learn as much as you can. It's up to you if it's worth it to do an MBA to get to consulting

From my understanding of the relationships between the tiers of firms, as well as compensation, post-mba lateraling is superior in every way.

  1. Higher salary as an MBA associate
  2. Depending on your path, this might actually be quicker progression to seniority than if you lateral into entry analyst
  3. As user above suggested, this move isn't standard
