Lateral to BB IB from Strategy consulting?

Hey all. I'm about to start my analyst gig at a strategy consulting firm like Strategy&/EYP/OW, and I wanted to know how hard (or easy) is it to lateral to IB at the associate level without going an MBA. Either a BB or EB. Thanks!

Did you take the offers? If so, why or why not? Curious to hear your thought process as obviously those are two very enticing EB offers.

Yes, it can be done (have seen it myself) but there are some things to consider:

  1. Aim to stay at your job for 12-18 months at least
  2. You will most likely start from scratch, meaning Analyst 1 even after 12-18 months of experience elsewhere (unless you can prove modelling experience and so on from FIG projects)
  3. Networking will be your best friend. In these cases, you NEED to have an advocate as simple online applications may not cut

Thanks for the advice here. I'm trying to stay at my job for at least 2 years and get experience in PE (CDD/FDD) and then later to IB. Is this a good plan?
