Let me make sure i understand this "management consulting"

I have been lurking around reading as much of this site as i can.

I currently attended a tier 7 school (a step above community college) and have no chance in hell to land an analyst position or any entry level position with any consulting firm. For the past two years i have worked full time for start up companies while taking full loads at school majoring in Entrepreneurship and dont have the best gpa @ 3.61 headed into my senior year.

From what i can figure, to continue my course in my management role building this unit up as successful as possible and score high on my GMAT(>700) go to a T20 bschool 3-4 years after i graduate and my personal business experience is the best route i can do in order to make it to a second or third tier firm as an associate.

unfortunately i dont have the easiest route but the hard work should make me a better employee right?

not at all-since being a generalist will be hard since youll usually be beaten out by kids at the top tier schools, try to really get your hands dirty and pick up field experience in an industry. like learn an industry backwards and forwards and then anything is a possibility

i think you're plan is good. it's definitely doable, and i know people in the industry with very similar background to yours. also, there are so many small random consulting firms, where networking is having people like you is much more important than where you went to school. you might be able to land one of those as a stepping stone to bigger, more well known consulting firms.

hard work does make you a better employee. best of luck.
