Listing location preference outside of school's region: bad idea?
Hi all,
I'm gearing up to apply for FT consulting positions at the top firms.
I know this question has been asked before, but I wanted some clarity on the effects of listing my location preference for consulting outside of my region.
If, for instance, I go to school in the south where most alumni and recruiting happens in Atlanta/Texas, would I be at a disadvantage if I apply to MBB/D offices in NYC?
Also, I heard some of the aforementioned firms aren't the strongest in NYC, would that help in terms of competition?
Thanks!
