Looking to Move from Private Equity to Mgmt Consulting
Hi all, i have 4.5 years of experience across i-banking and private equity, and am bored. Don't think these are long-term fits for me. I am planning on moving into mgmt consulting. I think Bain's PE practice or BCG's PIPE practice could be good fits given they're looking to grow these. When I have informational calls with consultants (principals and partners), would it be ok if I listed the following reasons as motivations for switching to consulting:
- Experience in finance has been very valuable and was able to set a high bar in terms of references and recommendations I have, don't want to do finance long-term and feel my skillset has plateaued (building financial models, negotiating financing and SPAs)
- Dovetailing with the points above, chasing investment performance/return isn't as exciting to me anymore and neither is working on long proccesses that have a significant probability of not getting closed
- Consulting is exciting because I'll get the opportunity to work on a variety of topics across different industries (yet be able to specialize in a practice area where I have prior experience for instance PE or PIPE)
4. It'll be an environment where I am constantly challenged by new types of problems and have opportunities to grow myself professionally (knowledge development, leadership, mentorship by partners)
Is this comprehensive or do I need to do a better job convincing a consultant as to why I want to move? Is there something I should add? Pls let me know..Thanks
