mbb.. again?! yes, please

at the risk of sounding smug (though the question is really sincere), i wonder the following:
just took the gmat. got a whopping overall score, however (however?) my quant score is a mere 48 (83rd percentile i'm told)
do mbb value the quant score very much or is an overall score in the top percentile impressive enough for them? i'm still doing my BA btw.

the reason i'm asking is that i was hoping to get a summer analyst position this upcoming summer and i'm in a precarious position.
i'm in israel, which has an office but they offer no internships. is it possible to be invited to interview by an office that is overseas from my country of residence? i have an american citizenship if that's any help.

besides that, and the fact that i don't go to an american/european top 10 (though my uni is a semi-target in israel apparently) i think my stats are impressive enough compared to the "average" SA applicant. i have 3 years relevant experience in research and analysis of information and am interning all year round at a mixed-venture-entrepreneurial kind of small company with more than the regular intern's responsibilities. and a good gpa.

i'd really appreciate any input from any with experience with recruiting.
i'd also like to thank anyone who regularly contributes to us rookies' annoying questions time and time again. you're really a great help.

Dagro, not sure what you consider to be a whopping score (760+) but a 48 for quant should more than suffice. Adcomms for b-school and recruiters for consulting generally like to see at least an 80/80 split for quant and verbal. This cutoff generally ensures that you are capable of thinking critically and communicating effectively. Again just one data point, GPA, school etc. will play important roles as well.

during the test i realized that i'd be happy getting above a 700 - the realization i wasn't doing too well on the quant was after a certain point where all the questions i got ceased being challenging (because i messed up earlier tougher questions). it made me think "huh... so the computer has decided i'm stupid. godamit..." na, the 760 actually had me laughing from joy for a while. if i have one piece of advice to anyone wanting a serious gmat score, it's spend a lot of time understanding and practicing the verbal. there are too many engineers and computer majors raising the quant section's average score, whereas the verbal average is being pulled down by all the non-native english speakers.

EITHER WAY, WHAT I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT, the more important reason i'm asking for advice is i was wondering if it's possible to get an interview overseas for a summer position. that's what's worrying me. are they gonna say "look, we wanna interview you, but we won't pay for the airline ticket" or are they gonna automatically toss my res in the bin?

If they like you, the flight is no big deal.
