MBB recruiting for MBA - summer vs full time

Hi everyone,

I was in a non-MBA master's program a few years ago, and I remember applying to (and getting rejected) an internship position at an MBB firm, and subsequently in the second year, re-applied for the FT position but got auto-dinged because the recruiter told me 18 months - 24 months need to elapse before I can re-apply, even though I was applying to FT (as opposed to internship) that time.

Anyways, I wondering if it's the same for MBA candidates. If so, would most people work in another industry for an internship and only apply to MBB for the FT positions in their second year, since getting a full-time offer is supposed to be a lot less competitive than getting a summer internship offer for MBB?

Thanks.
