Mckinsey / MBB at any cost - Low Prestige International Office?
I'm a current student at a T15 MBA, which sends a handful of people to MBB each year. I've noticed the ones we do place at Mckinsey tend to be placed internationally or in a low prestige office.
Would it make sense to focus my efforts on an office located in a developing country where most T15 MBA's wouldn't want to work, bust my ass off for a couple years, then either transfer back to the states internally or quit and find another company to work for back in the US. I've read that once you have McK on your resume, finding a good exit op within industry won't be difficult to find.
I am American, how easy/hard is it to get a visa to work in a developing country (ie Astana, KZ).
Interested to know as well!
As long as you are familiar with the local language and can explain why you want to go to a particular office, I think you can pull it off.
Regarding visa, it certainly won't be very easy but any firm would help you get it.
FWIW, your salary will be considerably lower outside the US (if that's an issue with you)
I would avoid Kz. Very ethnically tribal / corrupt society. From what I've seen not very impressed with the Mbb ppl I know there.
I would prefer Eastern Europe (still Eu at end of day) or LATAM
