McKinsey SSBA Interviews

Hi all,

Recently got an interview invite for McKinsey's SSBA position. Was wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process for this position and can shine some light on it? Also wondering if these interviews will be any easier than interviews for junior summer positions?

Thanks in advance.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about the McKinsey interview process:

  1. Interview Structure:

    • Presentation Dinner: Top students are invited to a McKinsey presentation dinner.
    • CV Submission: Candidates submit their CVs.
    • McKinsey PST: Candidates take the Problem-Solving Test, which is similar to GMAT questions and lasts about an hour.
    • First-Round Case Interviews: Two 1-hour interviews, each consisting of approximately 15 minutes for personal questions and 45 minutes for solving a consulting case.
    • Second-Round Case Interviews: Another two interviews following the same structure, but this time with Partners.
  2. Preparation Tips:

    • Personal Questions: Do not underestimate the importance of the personal questions part of the interview. First impressions matter, and McKinsey values structure.
    • Case Interviews: Be prepared to solve consulting cases efficiently and effectively.
  3. Interview Difficulty:

    • The interview process is rigorous and challenging, similar to other McKinsey positions. The difficulty level is consistent across different roles, including junior summer positions and more advanced roles like SSBA.
