Met An Auditor Recently Who Called Himself a "Consultant"...
Hi,
So I just met an auditor who works at the Big 4 (this is an AUDITOR, not a TAS dude) who said that he is a consultant despite the fact that he is an accountant. Is this terminology correct, because in a way, you might be able to call them "consultants" since they work with numerous companies and offer advise, but somehow I feel that its kind of strange for an accountant to label himself as a "consultant" and not just an "accountant".
From what you described it seems he has the characteristics of a consultant, and an accountant. He can choose how he wants to market himself. I don't see anything strange about this.
who gives a shit?
this
Yeah I realize this is kind of a worthless topic, but I just thought it was weird and was curious about how others would view this? I've never heard of accountants being "consultants" and that's just why I thought I'd ask to see if people within the industry see it the same way shrug
Why do you sound so concerned? How did you expect people 'within the industry' would 'view this'?
You do realize that there are engineers who are also consultants, economists who are also consultants, programmers who are also consultants, professors who are also consultants, doctors who are also consultants, soldiers who are also consultants...
sigh, it was just a question born from curiosity, but forget it. Someone lock this thread or just let it die.
Doesn't really matter what he calls himself. It's work experience that counts.
This thread's a non-issue.
don't worry, i feel ya bro.
i've met people in ops who introduce themselves as "bankers", and boy do they feel dumb when i start inquiring about what product group they're in.
and industry group
Auditors really like to consider themselves trusted advisors to their clients. Not sure I've ever really seen it but whatever makes them happy.
