Military Officer to Management Consulting in 2031

Hello, everyone! I hope this thread finds you in good spirits. For the past several months, I have been silently reading through this forum for information on management consulting and have gained a lot of insight from your expertise.

I'm a naval officer with 7 years of experience as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer. My intentions are to remain on active duty for an additional 13 years which will allow me to start drawing a pension at age 42. While I realize that there have been a number of posts about veterans transitioning into management consulting, I can't seem to find a lot of information that is specific to service members transitioning with 20 years under their belt. That being said, I was hoping you might be able to provide me with some advise as to how I should proceed.

1) Considering that I'm years away from joining the private sector, is it be beneficial to get my MBA sooner rather than later? Unfortunately, I would be unable to attend the traditional classroom setting and would have to settle with an EMBA program. Would I be better off waiting to get an MBA after I retire from active service or will an EMBA suffice?

2) Are there any certifications/qualifications (Cisco exams, SAP, CFA, etc) I should be looking at right now that business schools/consulting firms find desirable?

3) Is there anything in general that I should be doing in the long term that will make me a better candidate for consulting firms? I've taken on leadership opportunities on land and at sea and have enjoyed taking on challenging assignments. Additionally, I will have an opportunity in the next few years to get a MS in Computer Science or EE on the Navy's dime without having to dip into my GI benefits.

I appreciate any guidance that you can provide me. Thank you.
