Networking with no alums in my area?
I'm based in Hong Kong and go to a non target private school in the South (Tulane/Emory/Richmond etc.). Reason for this is I was a shithead in high school and messed up, went to a not so good school freshman year and transferred out. Anyways, I've been lurking on Linkedin and couldn't find much alumni in HK. I still want to use my time here to network, any advice on how to go about this? Straight up cold emailing people?
Yep. Alumni are the low-hanging fruit in the networking game, but there’s nothing wrong with hitting up anyone you find interesting. Just expect your response rate to be quite a bit lower since these folks will feel less of a connection / obligation toward you.
