Oliver Wyman Internship London

Hi, I'll be joining OW as an Intern in London. Any tips on how to secure the return offer? What are the industries that OW is known for/strong at? Any other general advice for someone starting out consulting for the first time?

Hi there,

I've interned at OW london and happened to check WSO so I thought I would reply :)

The London office is pretty diverse in terms of the projects it gets. Our strong suit is definitely in financial services which is the industry we work with most.

In terms of securing the return offer, I think a lot of it is not screwing up. What I mean by this is, don't show up late, don't be inappropriate etc..

After that, choose projects that you think you can do well in (e.g. don't choose a quantitative project if math and coding isn't your strong suit.). Try to attend all the socials with your assigned careers advisor and managers who will be assessing you and maintain a good rapport with them.

While you're on a project, strike a balance between asking questions & giving input VS following orders and doing the work. Make your managers and the people assessing you look good in front of their bosses. Try and understand the relationships and dynamics of your team as well and contribute!

In terms of actual performance, its important to remember that they are assessing how far you have come and progressed throughout the two months and not how much you know when you started. So therefore having a positive and willing to learn attitude goes a long way.

Feel free to DM and see you in the summer :)
