Overview of Consulting

Hey everyone, Just wanted to ask about what are all the types of consulting and what does each consulting specifically do. For context, I'm an incoming freshman at the University of Notre Dame interested in consulting. However, the more research I do into this career, the more overwhelmed and confused I get, as there are so many types of consulting, and I'm unsure which one I should pursue as I'm unclear about what each consulting does.

Would love to know what you guys would do if you were in my position. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, guys.

Someone asked something similar in the last couple of weeks: link.

If you have more specific questions, cause yours is a tad too general, we'd be happy to answer (however spending 45mins typing a full answer about how all of consulting is divided is not really something Im keen on doing).

As a tip, you could started by explaining what you do / do not understand in particular and then we can chime in.

  • A consultant takes your watch to tell you the time.
  • A consultant is used as a lead scapegoat during a shit show.
