Parthenon vs. Monitor
Which firm would you go for?

Not that familiar with Monitor, but I really liked the principals and partners I met at Parthenon. They seemed fairly focused on a few key industries though, so if your interests fall there, I'd probably go that direction. Exit opps seem solid, and I doubt comp is going to be much different between the two straight out of school. Prestige is pretty similar...Parthenon may be a little more regional because it has fewer offices, but it's a very strong name in the Northeast.

The nicest people I have met were at Parthenon and Monitor. And in both firms, there are a lot of learning opportunities. I think my decision should be based perhaps on whether I want to work in a boutique firm like Parthenon or a bigger one like Monitor.
Honestly, if you have offers from both, you're in a pretty good position. Both can get you into PE, a top b-school, and plenty of other places.
If I were you, I'd think about where I wanted to work in terms of city and industry, what I wanted to do after (look at LinkedIn to get an idea of exit opps to see if they're very different...but I doubt one is light years ahead of the other in most areas), and where I felt comfortable, because fitting in the office's culture is important in determining how successful you'll be there.
Office size and firm size will definitely determine some opportunities, but if you're at Parthenon Boston, I'd imagine you'd have a wide range to choose from since IIRC, the majority of their partners (and consulting staff) are based there...it's probably similar to a larger Monitor office in that respect.
That's true. Location is going to be an important factor as they are in different countries.

I think Monitor's a bigger name though. I'd probably choose Monitor.

Yes, Monitor is bigger as Parthenon only has around 300 consultants worldwide. I'm not sure the extent to which that translates into reputation/prestige.
Monitor has a great overall expertise in large number of sectors. I think however Parthenon has the edge in the areas of private equity, education and health.
LEK and Parthenon are right there with Booz/Monitor/OW. If you want to do FS, go to OW. If you want to do energy, I think Booz is good? If education and PE, Parthenon. If airlines and PE, LEK.
Each of those firms has strengths and weaknesses based on region, practice, etc. It really depends on your interests at that point.
