PhD in Public Affairs to Consulting

What's up guys, I'm currently in my last year of my public affairs governmenty type PhD program at HYPS, and was wondering what the job outlooks would be for someone like me looking to settle in the consulting sector. Would having a PhD in a public affairs type subject be considered a con? One of my buddies has a lifesci esque degree and has had no problem pursuing consulting roles whatsoever. Thanks!
