Possible to go from F100 Strategy Consultant to MBB?
So I recently graduated undergrad and joined a F100 Insurance company in a 3-year rotational program. I'm currently a a Strategy Analyst and have been in the role for a few months now. It's a high-impact role with constant interactions with executives and officers. The work is typical consulting work (change management, process improvement, etc.) with an emphasis/focus on technology. While I very much enjoy the work I'm doing right now, I quickly learned the flaws/shortcomings of the rotational program and don't know if I could stick around for the whole 3 years. So now I'm considering trying to transition to MBB and am wondering if it would even be possible.
For what it's worth, my background is:
- Non-target university, 3.46 GPA
- Majored in Mathematics, concentration in Financial Math; Minor in Finance
- Will be taking the GMAT in December (consistent 750-760 on practice tests)
I know that I'll eventually want to go get my MBA, which is why I'm taking the GMAT in December. I also know that MBB value gmat scores, so would it be wise to apply after having taken the GMAT? Or would that be too late to apply?

If you have experience in corporate strategy for a couple years maybe. If you have just a rotation in corp strat definitely not, you don't have nearly enough experience and it just a rotation. Also in a F100 FLDP- knew a director in corporate strategy that went to a T2 firm (OW,LEK,ATK), but haven't heard of MBB. FLDP-> M7 MBA -> MBB is your best bet to getting to MBB imo.
I'm curious what you see as the short-comings of your program. I'm in a 3 year F100ish FLDP as well, and I'm in rotation #2.
The only shortcoming I see in my program is that during my third year, I'll still be getting paid in the same range as my starting pay, while anyone who entered the company at the same time I did would be eligible for a promotion and raise at the two year mark. So for that 3rd year I'll be getting the shaft. BUT, after the 3rd year I'll be eligible for a Senior Analyst role, which would normally require 4 years exp at my company.. So short term I get paid less, but long term I'm ahead and get paid more.
