Reapplying to MBB – tips and best practices?
Made it to final rounds at 2/3 of MBB firms, current undergraduate senior graduating this semester. I'll be working full-time at a Big 4 consulting firm next year, but I'm planning on re-recruiting for MBB one day. How long should I wait and what should I do to maximize my chances of getting an interview? Worried because my resume won't really change besides starting FT position at the Big 4 firm which I've already interned at previously. Should I take on other volunteer/part time roles? What should I do in my free semester before I start work? Should I reach out to the recruiters from this cycle?
MBB doesn't allow you to re-apply until one year later, even for full-time, so the earliest you can apply would be then. However, that being said, I would personally recommend you work at your Big 4 for AT LEAST a year. Preferably two, if you want to really leverage your experience there.
Do you know why you were dinged from MBB? If it is a lack of casing/business sense, I would spend more time on those skills than anything else, including networking.
Sounds good. Should I try to get an internship next semester before I start working?
I got dinged because my casing wasn't there yet – I was a little unprepared during the recruitment cycle, so will definitely polish up those casing skills for next time. Was good enough to get to final round, but consistency became an issue when I'd have to do like 3 cases on a day. Any tips for networking? Haven't really done much of that.
