Recent grad working with a headhunter

I am a recent grad, (non traditional/science background) coming from a non-Ivy, non-target school. Resume reflects strong biomedical experiences and unique extracurriculars. I got in touch with a headhunter via linkedin and had a phone convo this week about my resume and my interests in consulting. He works in a different city for Consulting company X and said he will forward my resume to Company X in my city. Also said the he knows contacts at other consulting companies and will look into sending my resume to Companies A, B, and C as well. Is this legitimate? I am fresh out of undergrad with no business background but he seems to be interested in working with me.
