Second/Third Tier Consulting Firms
I hate to use the 2nd/3rd tier term, but how are exit opportunities for non-MBB firms. Finance is impossible to get in, as are MBB and top tier firms, so would joining a lesser-known firm hinder one's chances of a top b-school?
So if we say M/B/B is tier 1. Monitor/OW/Katzenbach/LEK/Booz tier 2... I assume those firms still provide good exit ops for b-school.
what about firms like OC&C, Deloitte Management, Accenture Management, Gotham, Archstone?
consider restructuring advisors - you'll have the opportunity to do a load of modeling and understand the legal infrastructure; some good ones involved with lehman are FTI and A&M
FYI: just be warned - as far as consulting goes, restructuring has the worst hours.
Friend of mine does restructuring at Roland Berger and worked at huge projects last year (Continental, Hapag-Lloyd, Arcandor)... incredibly intense! (i.e. no office day)
regarding FTI,
does anyone know what the interviews are like? mainly fit based or some technicals?
Thanks for the help!

Re FT interviews: i think it depends on experienced vs campus hires. for experienced hires, it's much more about talking about your experience/skill set and testing for fit. For campus hires, there's a lot more emphasis on cases and tests to see if you're smart.
manbearpig have you worked at FTI by any chance? Can I pm if yes to get mor detail?
As a European, Roland Berger is tops in Western continental Europe and on par with McK. Your friend's hours do not surprise me. They are growing like crazy right now.
what does a 3rd tier consultant do
