Shoes for airplane travel

For those of you who do a lot of airplane traveling, what kind of shoes do you wear? I know loafers are the favorite because they're so easy for getting through security, but do any of you fly in oxfords? For the loafer crowd, any favorites?

I have Salvatore Ferragamos and feel like I'm destroying the shoe when I have to take it off and put it back on through security without a shoe horn. And no one wants to walk around with one of those

My dad travels a lot, he just wears a comfortable pair of loafers. If you get off the plane and go straight to meetings, have an extra pair of shoes in your bag and change in the cab.

Here's what your decision process should look like:

Are you wearing a suit? Wear oxfords, wingtips, or balmorans (oxfords without the two flaps over the tongue). Please don't wear loafers - I know they're comfortable but it just doesn't look professional.

Are you wearing anything else? Wear whatever's comfortable. I generally wear oxfords with business casual, jeans, etc.

Wearing oxfords adds ~30 seconds to my trip through security, and it's on the far end where I don't have irate people clogged up behind me. I don't think loafers are a professional shoe - and I know 90% of the consulting world disagrees. Just goes to show you should do whatever makes you happy.

MissLouMy other half wears Prada Loafers, He swears by them. They look fab and apparently they are comfortable.

That would certainly explain the male wearing Prada in this equation.
