Struck out in MBB/B4 internship recruiting. What are my best options based on my current recruiting?

Hi all,

Had some pretty bad luck this recruiting cycle. T20 semi-target/non-target. Waitlisted for final round + rejected at 1 MBB firm (rejected without interview from other 2). Rejected after final round at 1 Big 4 firm (rejected without interview from other 3). I missed the timing for T2 strat firms. I plan to reapply to all of the above for full-time recruiting.

Here are my current avenues that I'm pursuing:

- Mastercard Advisers - strategy transformation (offer in hand). I worked at Mastercard last year in a different role and got my return offer swapped to this role. From what I understand, MC Advisers is filed under their Data and Services division and mostly helps clients use their Test and Learn software.

- CapitalOne business analyst (R1 interview scheduled). From what I understand, this is probably one of my best opportunities. Don't know a ton about it though.

- Microsoft consulting, Google BOLD, Neuralink PM (applied with referral). I haven't heard back from any of them yet. My Google and NL referrals come from PMs, my MSFT one comes from a past intern (lol).

With the goal of FT recruiting into MBB/T2, my thinking is I should prioritize these as CapitalOne>Mastercard>MSFT>Neuralink>Google. I'd love input/advice on where else to apply! I'm 4-147-10 (offer/reject/waiting) across the last two cycles for recruiting, so any and all help is appreciated.

Incoming EY-P summer associate here. Interviewed for Mastercard and CapitalOne, and funnily got rejected for both of them (got cut during the final round for Mastercard and 1st round for CapitalOne). I would say Mastercard > CapitalOne if you like tech & digital and CapitalOne > Mastercard if you like financial services.

Not to be blunt, but 'currently' all you have is MasterCard, so I wouldn't worry too much about ranking these roles where for one you have a R1 interview and the other you have just applied.

At the moment it looks like you're going Mastercard, so work with that

not sure how you 'missed' the T2 apps

This is super fair. I'm well aware that having applied =/= getting an offer. I was approaching this more from an internal logic/stress management perspective of which recruiting opportunities I should prioritize. Like if the resounding consensus was "mastercard is your best bet", I'd sign and stop recruiting. If the answer was "mastercard sucks, please go anywhere else", that's a different ballgame.

Is your “R1” at Capital One the online interview? Its actualy just an excel sheet and questions, not a face to face interview. Also, I did R1 and got my CapOne email today- “Congratulations on passing your first round interview with Capital One. Unfortunately, all Power Day interview slots are filled for the remainder of 2022.” So take that as you will.

How do you miss the timing for all T2 firms but applied to MBB? Timelines are similar
