Switch from Tier 2 firm internship to MBB full time

Hey guys,

I'm currently an intern at a tier 2 consulting firm in Hong Kong ending at end of December. I'm currently looking to apply for an MBB full time position but heard that they are usually reluctant to recruit consultants from another firm because they've already adopted a different culture and such.

So that being said, I was wondering if anyone can give some advice on how I could sell myself or any other tips like maybe rely on strong networking and such?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. If that's true then is there a generally accepted way that people from another firm sell themselves to MBB for example: don't talk too much about your firm's culture, focus on your experience as a teamplayer or XYZ?

Although I've read quite a lot about people with experience in consulting having a hard time switching to another firm because why would they hire you and take you through their entire program/culture when they can hire a fresh grad that's gone through many events from the firm.

You've only done an internship, it's not like you've been working there for years. And second, everyone understands why you want to move to MBB. It's not like you have to explain people why you'd want to take the prettiest girl to prom.

Problems of switching mainly concern within similar types of companies. Why would a Bain intern want to switch to BCG, or why would a McKinsey intern want to switch to Bain? Similarly, why would a Strategy& intern want to switch to Deloitte? Those types of trades get questioned.
