Transitioning from IB/Strategic Finance to MBB

I’m trying to understand where I’d fit in recruiting for management consulting at MBB firms. Brief background: I graduated from a target school, did 1 year in IB M&A at a boutique, and have spent a little over 1 year in strategic finance at a mid-size public tech company. I feel caught in between - too experienced to join with campus hires and too inexperienced for post-MBA roles - and I’m unsure what level and compensation range I should target.

Here are my questions:

  1. What level would I likely come in at for MBB with 2-3 YOE and what should I expect in terms of comp?
  2. Do I need to wait for summer deadlines (e.g., July 7, Aug 7), or can I apply anytime?
  3. What’s the current hiring market like for MBB (in general and for this kind of candidate) and how might it change over the next year?

I hope this helps others in a similar position find clarity. Thanks!
