Travel/Day in the life for a tech consultant?

I'm interested in finding out what the travel is like for the traditional tech consultant working for a company like PwC, Deloitte, etc. in a large city in the US (NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas, etc.) as well as what a day in the life looks like for a position like this.

I know in general I've heard that the travel totally depends on a variety of factors, but I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks.

Know a couple people at places like Deliotte BTA, IBM, Capgemini, Accenture and it's pretty similar to the management consulting lifestyle. Take a late Sunday flight or red eye monday morning flight to client site Monday and then fly back Thursday night. Then some go into the office Friday to network for future projects/work or remote in from wherever they travel to. Then repeat. Though depending on your office you could be staffed on a local project and thus not deal with the travel aspect.

Unfortunately don't know a ton about the day life but a lot of it sounds like implementation type work.
