Typical odds at MBB superdays?
For relatively primary MBB offices (not NY), what's the size of the typical interview pool for final/decision rounds for summer internships? Are they picking like 5 kids out of 20ish? Or am I way off?
Just trying to get a realistic sense of what environment I'll be competing in soon.
Mine was 5 out of 35ish.
Shit. This is going to be a bloodbath. What about for medium-sized offices? Something like Houston or San Fran?
You need to take into account the fact that MBB give out much fewer spots for SA than for FT positions. And yes it's a bloodbath everywhere this year apparently :(
Ah, good point. This was for FT.
Meh. I made it this far, amirite? SOMEone has to get it. Might as well be me.
That was my attitude as well. Eye of the tiger/just win, baby. My call came 1.5 business days after the final round. Good luck!
that's a good attitude :) good luck!
@Joe_monkey: GOOD GOD! 5 out of 35 for final round for FT???? If you don't mind sharing may I ask which firm and office is this? (Please don't say BCG :|)
Big office. Only students from semi-target schools were interviewing that day.
Thanks, dudes. Any insider tips on surviving the day/inevitable schmoozing dinner afterward?
Eye of the tiger/just win, baby.
BCG Chicago haha?
Also hit me up if you're down for practicing cases for final rounds.
I\'m heading to a final round next Friday. Anybody wanna do some mocks shoot me a PM. I got all weekend.
I'm at an MBB and help with recruiting.
Do your absolute best but keep things in perspective if you don't get a spot. Candidates that were very good but just got beat out for summer internships are generally remembered. Keep it classy. Stay positive. There is no better way to screw yourself for FT than to be a douche during summer recruiting.
Thanks for the advice! Do you have any sort of ballpark for number of spots and number of offers? What's the general norm?
I can't really pin a number on it because it does vary. What I've seen on this thread is largely accurate and I agree with everyone else saying to just go for the win.
