UF vs UGA vs UMiami

HS Senior trying to break into consulting post grad. Got scholarships at all 3 schools, but not sure how they stack up against each other here. Any advice on what I should take?

UF Non Honors: 16k scholarship - 34k final cost
UGA Honors: 23k scholarship - 27k final cost
UMiami Honors: 66k scholarship - 32k final cost

All are non-targets for MBB unless you have a full ride. At my southern MBB office we have a handful of people from these schools but essentially 100% are presidential scholars or whatever it’s called.

You can break into B4 consulting from all these schools though. I think UGA was the most represented school I saw fwiw (where I interned).

UGA alum here, worked at Bain for 3 years.

UGA places a handful of students each year at McKinsey, Bain, and BCG through Corsair Society, which is a club that helps students recruit for consulting, banking, and tech internships.

The "full ride" thing from the other commenter is inaccurate. I was on a full-ride at UGA and that's not why I got a Bain offer. It just so happens that the students in full-ride merit scholarship programs (e.g., UNC's Morehead Cain, UGA's Foundation Fellowship, UVA's Jefferson) are typically the most competitive students at that school in terms of their work experience, extracurricular involvement, and leadership on campus. When I reviewed resumes, I took notice of these scholarships, but I was only using it as one datapoint for their academic abilities alongside things like GPA, test scores, major, etc. And yes UGA does very well with Big 4 as well, I think it's because of the strength of our accounting program and the number of people going into Big 4 audit.

Your performance at whichever of the 3 schools you choose is much more important than the school you pick. Because of that, I highly highly highly implore you to pick the school you are most interested in attending and not split hairs over which school places marginally more students in consulting.

Also, you're 18 years old -- you have no idea who you are yet. You are going to change a lot in the next four years, so I would not make such a significant life decision based on this career path that you're currently interested in. I changed my major 4 times. I thought I wanted to work in public relations. I ended up at Bain. Things change, and people change. You grow a lot during college.

I don't fully disagree with you, but there is a huge amount of luck and an unbelievable level of grit/purpose needed to get into MBB. Those without full rides aren't given that level of flexibility.

Who gets into the Cosiar Society? If it's anything like the club atmosphere at my (semi-target) school, the kids with the full rides end up taking 30-50% of the spots at all the presigious clubs. Who uses scholarship connections to get prestigious freshmen and sophomore year internships? Almost every kid landing a top finance offers from my school (multiple GS TMTs, GS/JPM/MS, EBs, etc.) is a full-ride student. It's not just the scholarship, but you will not get into that 3% acceptence rate finance club unless you know someone or are on a full ride (or just plain lucky!).

Honestly, I would choose either UGA or Miami, depending on the vibes when you visit

You don't need to have a full ride scholarship to have grit.

The kids at UGA (and I'm sure Miami too) are really smart, don't get me wrong, but the vast majority of them are phoning it in for most of college. They take 12-credit hour semesters, they don't take leadership positions in clubs, they don't cultivate mentors, etc. I'm not saying it's easy, but I was able to outcompete and outwork 99% of the people at UGA while still (for the most part) getting 8 hours of sleep a night, going out 2-3 nights a week, and generally having an enjoyable college experience.

going to an MBB NY but from a southern school so have seen some of what school has some presence where.

TBH all pretty tied, but have seen pretty good results from UGA surprisingly (ofc only in atl, but same goes for the others + miami office). most of the UGA kids are corsair, and from what i can guess, if you had a high GPA and SAT/ACT in HS but still went to UGA that place will probs take u if ur not a bot. Miami and Florida are solid too, I just  dont know much about miami offices
