What is MBB Case Workshop about?

Hey guys,

Has anyone attended case workshop before? MBB firms all have a case workshop between resume drop deadline and on-campus interview at my school. What is it all about? I assume they are not merely there to help you. Is it the Round 0 we talk about? Are you going to do PST/group interview there? Does it have any impact on whether you can get an on-campus interview?

Thanks in advance!

What's the exact wording of the posting? We've had "case workshops" before and they often involve walking through a group case with a chance for questions.

It depends. Some case workshops are invite-only for candidates who are invited to interview, and other case workshops are open to everyone. In any case, it's an informal "training session" to go over how approach a typical case. Usually the firm will send a few relatively new hires (1-2 years experience) to run through a mock case, and answer any questions you have.

It won't really have an impact on your prospects in recruiting. You might make a connection with one of the consultants, but only in rare circumstances will that completely turn around a decision. The real purpose of the case workshops is to ensure that all interviewees have at least basic knowledge of what a case is and how to prepare (they don't want people coming into interviews not knowing what to expect, and therefore wasting the interviewer's time).
