What to do during training/beginning of the job to get staffed on projects quickly?

Hi everyone, as the title goes. My group does a very niche type of consulting, more like financial advisory work, for PE clients, and the training, according to my director, typically takes a couple months. I am one month into the job. This is my 4th week. What can I do to start getting staffed on projects quickly? So far I have done client work only once and received good feedback from a manager.

Thanks a lot.

Keep in touch with the manager. These types of relationships are important, especially in smaller niches/ at smaller companies. They are likely to have a strong say in who will be on their teams when something comes up, and you want to be high on the right people's lists. You can also reach out (casually) to other managers involved in similar work to get your name out.

Other than that, keep in touch with the person responsible for your staffing on a regular basis while unstaffed - a short e-mail every week/ two weeks is probably best - and ask them if there is anything coming up. It also does not hurt to keep them updated on your staffing preferences to avoid staffing mishaps.

Thank you. That is what I'm doing now. I shoot my manager and my senior manager --- who tend to travel a fair bit--- a couple messages/emails every now and then to see what I can do/how I can help. Will keep your advice in mind.
