Where1 do I go from here?

I have an econ degree from a university of california, poor gpa, and no experience. I graduated June 2013 and have been in between things since then. I have been helping out with our family business which is internet based. Recently I found out more about consulting and it seems like something I could be good at. I know that no company would hire someone like me. My only experience is for the family business and its very relaxed. I honestly cant really call it work.

My question is, what kind of job should I look for that could eventually lead me to get a job in consulting? I don't mind doing something entry level, I just want something that could put me on a path to success. It could be anything. I have so many interests but I am not really sure what the first step is to get there. I know that I need to work hard, but I don't know what to work hard at, if that makes sense. Any advice?
