Which of GAFA is the best for management consulting?
Hello fellow Monkeys! :) Back again with a new question, though this comes after I've made my decision - looking at this more from a retrospective point-of-view since there was a tight deadline (hope that's fine). My ST goal after graduation would likely be to work in the GAFA strategy/product management team, or with the digital end in MBBs.
So - after various rounds of interviews in my region for summer internship positions, I landed a few offers from some of the GAFA, namely: Apple - Software Engineering Intern working with their IS&T Team Amazon - BD & Strategy Intern working with their Cloud Solutions Google - APMM Intern working with their Core Products (Advertising Suite)
I was wondering which would the WSO community/monkeys find to be: (1) Most interesting, (2) Have the best positioning for consulting?
Lastly, just wanted to highlight that the WSO has helped me greatly in my previous decisions, and placed me in a spot where I am lucky enough to be able to make some decisions - hence I really value the advice here! I would be most glad to assist with any interview tips and advice as well for the companies mentioned above :)
I have heard only negative things about Apple's IS&T team for fulltime - fairly certain that interns everywhere can expect to get a red carpet treatment but I imagine all else equal you'd enjoy your summer with AMZN/GOOG more. Do you know if you can easily move to a different team at Apple if you decide to return there FT?
Disclaimer: Am senior, haven't worked at a big tech company, not going to MBB.
Thanks yogurt_dynamics for sharing your opinion on the Apple IS&T program :) And yup, have heard the same!
Usually in my region, Apple does a half to one-year long internship, ultimately structured to convert interns to a full-time position as long as internship requirements are met - so I guess in the short term, it would not be that flexible for a transfer to other teams :) IS&T is also not a "training ground" for PM roles too in Apple, if I'm not wrong!
Are you in the EU? I haven't really heard GAFA used in the US. We usually identify the top big tech firms as FAANG.
