Why am I not getting MBB interviews?

I wanted to brainstorm the idea of interviews in MBB London. I have received rejections from 2 MBBs in London, following a pretty solid background. I have had my CV reviewed by 3 MBB consultants who agreed on structure and presentation. Target school, 3 consulting experiences (with one at MBB London, a Big 4 in London and a Tier 2 in Europe), President roles in societies and a unique touch backed by strong personal impact.

Is Oxbridge such a big deal for MBB? Or what could be the arguments for not getting through their recruiting?

Do you want to share your CV on DM? I've had MBB interviews (all 3 last year, 2 this year so far) and so have my uni friends so can try to help

BTW. I'm assuming you were rejected by McK and Bain this year (BCG hasn't released results yet) - Bain is known for having more difficult tests so that could be the reason with them, not necessarily your CV.

My guess is that the tests tripped you up, if your CV was quickly checked by others to make sure you'd have the right stuff on it.

The vast majority of CVs are indeed the same as yours. However, if you did have your academics, work experience, and extracurriculars in line, then only your test performance was likely the deciding factor in rejecting your application.

To address another question of yours, Oxbridge is indeed very well respected (with a fair number of grads from there), but we also have a ton of UCLs, Warcks, Nottingham, LSE, Bath, etc. (+int'l unis). So, Oxbridge really isn't the end all be all at my London MBB.

Do you pass the "Bro test"? E.g., do you have 3-4 people at each office you are applying to that you'd be comfortable calling "bro"? Have you practiced cases?

They're NOT looking for a profile on a resume--they have hundreds of those. They are looking for someone that 1) Will pass the case interview, 2) will take their firm over all other firms, and 3) won't be a goob to work with. Does your school team recruiting lead give you an A+ on all of those? That's when you get interviews.

Remember, always be kind-hearted.
