Advice on getting out of energy...

Guys,

I have never posted a discussion here before, but I am hoping some of you all might be able to help me out a bit. I am a Corporate development professional (sr analyst, 2 juniors under me, I report to the director of corp dev and the two of us do meaningfully all the M&A work and report to the VP of corp dev / planning) in oilfield services looking to make both an industry and location shift. Would ideally end up in PNW / midwest in consumer goods / diversified industrials / chemicals. Has anyone here made a shift like this or have any advice?

Much appreciated!

I would figure you guys would have already left the oilfields long before now. The Saudis and OPEC need to curtail production or they're going to be dead, literally (once the handouts to the masses dry up). If you can position yourself at firms low on the cost curve you can ride out troughs mostly (if you're a really good performer) I would think.
