Being a Tech Worker is a Win-Win

  • Easy to sell people on “fairy tale” goals and IPO or sell your business at a high value, likely much more than it is actually worth

  • Upside Case (1% of the time): the business is actually successful and you make a killing

  • Downside Case (the other 99%): the business tanks but you pocket your money and run

As long as there are “big wins” in tech, investors will throw money at a bunch of goober companies in the off chance they secure the next big winner. Working in tech is a win-win and is much better than working at a bank where your stock based comp is essentially flat.
