Business Development Compensation?

I got a semi-offer from HR for a business development analyst role at a large financial services / tech firm in NYC. The HR contact basically asked me what compensation I am expecting in order to accept the role. I only said what my recent compensation at banking is and that I expect the offer to be competitive with my qualifications. They kept pushing and indicating that they can't pay the high bonuses that investment banks do, so I said I would have to get back to them.

I have two questions: 1) What is the average range of salary and bonus for such a role for a person with 2 years experience? Glassdoor is down at the moment... 2) How to move forward to get the actual offer without dinging myself nor getting low balled? It is a great opportunity but I do not want to get screwed into a $70k salary when in banking I earned ~$140k all in and was hoping for higher pay. Give HR a call back or talk to the head of the group who basically gave me a verbal offer?

This is time sensitive. Thanks for the help.

No idea for Business Development salaries, but if you're all in with for 140k at an IB, wit a 70k base, that 70k bonus is going to be taxed significantly higher than your base. So keep that in kind, its not a one-to one comparison.

I'm not in biz dev myself but I can tell you 140k is probably a little high. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered you 90-100k.

The last act is tragic, however happy all the rest of the play is; at the last a little earth is thrown upon our head, and that is the end for ever.
