Corp Dev case studies are getting out of hand

I have been interviewing for different corp dev roles. Modeling tests or take home case studies are fair of course.

But some of the case studies are getting out of hand. I’m talking about companies who are requiring 5-10 tab models with a 10 slide presentation and very nuanced analysis that feels like I’m doing free M&A work for them. It has got ridiculous.

Either they need to start paying people like some industries do when people have to complete project work for interviews or case studies need to be more succinct. But creating 7-10 tab models, outputs, and presentations for companies’ actual products and “hypothetical” acquisitions is out of hand. Especially when most people still have a busy day job.

Anyone frustrated by this too?
