Corp Dev / Corp Finance Exit Opportunities

I’m taking an associate role at a portfolio company of a very well known industry specific PE firm reporting directly to the CFO. The company is in growth mode at the moment so the expectation will be to execute a lot of A&D activity. Will also be responsible for all capital market activity, any hedging activity, and strategy as well. This particular PE firm’s strategy is to exit through a strategic buyer, so unfortunately the job is probably capped at 3-4 years, and I was curious what possible exit opportunities would be possible. I don’t have any formal banking background, but curious if we are as active in A&D as I expect if that’s an option? Or if I can spin the strategy portion to go to consulting? Or am I bound to being a corporate guy the rest of my career unless I do a hard pivot?
