Corp Dev Recruiters

Looking to switch from finance (IB/PE/PC) to a corporate development/strategy/finance/operations role in NYC. What are the best ways to land these roles and who are the recruiters I should be talking to?

You’re in a great spot for transitioning into corporate development and strategy. From my experience working with individuals in corporate strategy, having investment banking and private equity experience is a strong foundation. Most of the people I see in these roles—especially those involved in M&A—are former IB associates or private equity VPs, so your background is highly relevant.

At this stage, it’s all about networking. Start with alumni or colleagues from your current firm who have made the move into corporate strategy. Use LinkedIn to identify mutual connections and reach out for insights. The lifestyle in corporate strategy is a major upgrade compared to IB—better work-life balance and a more tangible connection to the business. I’ve heard from former bankers now in tech M&A who say they love being part of creating real products and actually have time to consider things like starting a family. Focus on leveraging your network, and you’ll be set.
