Corp Dev Salary Out of Undergrad
Hi Guys,
Longtime lurker who benefited greatly from this website. I made an account to get some details about salary in Corp dev. I graduated this past May from undergrad with a BBA in finance. After a grueling job hunt, I landed a Corp dev analyst role at a multi-billion dollar (5-10B), publicly-traded healthcare company. However, the recruiter said target base for the role is 50-60K since that’s what they pay for finance entry level roles. The position is in a low cost of living city in the south i.e. Atlanta/Houston/Nashville/Dallas. Should I try to negotiate for a higher base salary? I looked through some threads and I believe this offer is really low. The team is highly acquisitive and closes a deal every month to two, so I was wondering if taking the pay cut for the experience would be worth it since I’m looking to lateral into MM Healthcare Investment Banking.
If you’re only looking to stick around for a year and then move I wouldn’t worry a whole lot about immediate salary and would focus much more on where you’re going to get the best deal flow to help when you try and lateral.
Agree with this, I generally think negotiating salary at the entry level is silly, and it’s not THAT low for the area you’re in. Focus on the work and the skills it gives you as you think about the next step
My group starts at 65-70 for new grads. Usually 10% premium over rest of finance group. Bonus is additional but small. $7B company, tier 3 city.
I'm in CD right now, and that definitely feels low. I've seen $90 - $100K for analysts, though that is after 2 years of experience in other roles. Though as other posters have said, if they really close a deal/month and you believe the experience will be good, then there's no point in being stuck on the salary. Take it and lateral to IB after 1 year.
