Corp Strat Manager Salary
Hi Everyone,
Salary check on an offer for a Corporate Strategy Manager role. This would be for a large household name private company in a non-NY city in the consumer industry. I was quoted 120 base + fixed 12% bonus. I have an M7 MBA, with 1.5 years in IB post-MBA. Does that seem right?
Thank you!
Is it a lcol city? This sounds low to me. That’s almost what people are getting paid straight out of bschool.
I could be way off, I’m interested to hear what others say.
This is a big city, one of the largest non-NY cities
I think it’s a bit low, depending on the city. Bonus target should definitely be higher in my opinion. For another data point.... I haven’t worked in IB, don’t have an MBA, am 26 and just took a Director level role at a PortCo with all in comp around $200K. I am coming from a manager level role at a F250 and had all in comp there around $160K.
Is this within the corp strat / corp dev function or something else? What did you do before the F250 role?
Management consulting before transferring - work at F250 was mainly Strat, assisted in some DD work while my BU was going to be spun off to a PE firm that ultimately fell through. That would be the extent of CD type of work though.
Since you moved into CF from Consulting it makes sense that your comp is that high, but do you have any idea of what it would be like for someone who started corporate out of undergrad and got promoted to that point in your company? Are others at the same level around the same age as you?
I'm in a rotational program post-MBA and that's quite a bit less than me. After finishing the 3-4 year rotational program, the goal is to become a manager and the comp is closer to $200k all in. Also, if you went to an M7, you know starting salaries are in the 140-150k range... Is this a temporary position before a director role? Maybe if its a year then you move up a pay grade that could make sense.
This is OP - I appreciate all of the responses. General consensus seems to be that the offer range is low. I am thinking the catch here may be that I only had about 1.5 years of experience pre-MBA, or 3 total.
I'm a junior CD professional but definitely seems low... upper 100's would sound more right
Bump
Was looking at another thread that was discussing post mba corp strat salaries and that's definitely low. A good range seems to be 140/150-220k with the higher end being in tech in SF/NYC/Boston.
