Corporate Strategy straight from undergrad

Got offered a corporate strategy role straight from undergrad at a well-known F250. From what I understand, the typical path into corporate strategy is via management consulting (2-3 years) before moving in-house, and I haven't come across many people who went directly from undergrad into a corporate strategy seat.

For those who've worked in corporate strategy: is going straight in out of undergrad unusual, and if so, why? What are the trade-offs versus doing consulting first (e.g., skill development, exit opportunities, pay trajectory, credibility)? Would love to hear someone else's perspective.
