Had a first interview with the team.  It's a 1.5hr long interview and broken into 3 parts.

1) Canned HR behavioral questions. Took ~10 minutes.  Questions such as "what would you do if your colleague did x", or "if you overheard y", etc..

2) Coderpad coding problems.  This took about 60 minutes.  I won't go into the exact questions I was asked, but if you want to prepare for this interview you should do a bunch of Hackerrank challenges - focus on a variety of Easy and Medium questions.  The problems in the interview get harder as you go on.  You should also be familiar with time complexity (ie, O time notation) and be prepared to solve a problem in multiple ways if you initially use a brute-force method.

3) About the team, and Q&A.

Was an interesting interview all around. The team sounds interesting, lots of academic types and some challenging problems to work on if you're into that sort of thing. It's a coding + math intensive team.

How was the process? Did you progress through the next rounds?

Unfortunately I didn't pass the coding interview so I can't provide further information.  Definitely keep doing HackerRank questions though. I got stuck on the 3rd problem in which I simply didn't understand - the interviewer tried to explain it multiple times and I still understand it such that I could solve it.  So i'm guess this is the reason why I didn't move on - the first two questions I knocked out of the park, but the third was extremely difficult - you could solve it in terms of maximizing memory usage or time.
