Division/sector fldp to corporate? Opinions?

Im currently six months in a division/sector FLDP. A role has opened up within corporate for financial reporting (think quarterly 10-qs, annual 10-k construction). I want to end up in corp fp&a not necessarily division fp&a. Should I make the jump to corporate? Is this financial reporting role fp&a? Is it better to complete my 2 years as an FLDP? Am I jumping too early? Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

So you would be leaving your FLDP program to pursue this opportunity? I don't think it's a good move for a number of reasons. You may consider talking to your program manager and seeing if they can talk to the hiring manager, and possibly talking the hiring manager into filling the role with an FLDP instead of a full time. It isn't uncommon at all for this to happen and can be a reasonable sell, as the hiring body gets to avoid a headcount (kinda), and the FLDP's cost is sometimes funded by a different party (some programs have their own budget, some programs have it all on HR's books, etc.)

Mobility certainly varies by company, but there is a pretty large difference between corporate reporting/pure consolidation work and fp&a/strategy, and that transition may be rather difficult. Best of luck.

No. Complete your FLDP. There will be corporate FP&A positions in the future if you decide that's where you want to go after the program. But if you take the corporate job right now you're screwed if you find out it's not what you want.
