Exit opps for CD @ small software company

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to join a $100m software company doing corporate development. Primary responsibilities would be completing 2 buy-side tuck-ins (think $5m acquisitions) and evaluating full exit opportunities within next couple of years. The company currently does not have a CD team. I would essentially work with executive team to lead these efforts.

Taking this opportunity means there is a possibility I might be out of a job in the next 2 years. How much applicable experience would you expect me to pick in that situation and how would it translate well into larger CD/PE/FP&A/... teams? For ex. what would be my realistic chances of getting into something like $1b+ EV company's CD team or MM PE?

Notes on my background - non target undergrad - couple years experience in tech operations - couple years experience in lower-lower-MM IB

Thanks.
