F500 Corp Dev Layoff Risk

Curious of folks' views on where F500 corp dev groups typically sit in the layoff hierarchy assuming markets stay choppy in 2023. Appreciate this is going to vary widely by company/industry, but any perspectives would be much appreciated.

Hey trader_timmy, I think you deserve a response...heck, everyone does. We're listening, sorry about the delay ...my best guess at places on WSO that could help:

I have talked to a lot of my network during Covid and then during this downturn and I don't think I heard of a single group laying off CorpDev professionals strictly due to economic downturns. We tend to sit in a very privileged position of being the ones that work on the cost reduction efforts, and we are (largely) the higher performers in companies (specialty skill set with broad knowledge of finance, strategy, product development, etc.) so it seems far more likely they would get rid of multiple redundant positions in other non-revenue creating group versus eliminating a jack-of-all trades that you can plug-and-play in multiple roles for 6-9 month period. Perhaps that's just wishful thinking but I have been a part of 2 restructurings and the CorpDev team always remained untouched.

I would be very interested to hear about other's experiences as well.
