First in person interview

Hey everyone, I'm new here just seeking advice on my upcoming interview. I recently received an interview with the director of finance with a company due to knowing someone that works in another department.

Anyway, I haven't had an in person interview for an internship yet and I'm curious as to what I should expect? The only thing I know so far is that the interview will be with the director of finance and 1-3 team members and apparently questions will "mainly be about my classes".

You'll need to give more details...

Typically a "Director of Finance" is a title associated with a non-financial based firm, i.e it is an internal financial reporting and accounting role.

If that is the case, then the conceptual questions should be based around that, especially if you already know they will be based on your classes. Refresh on financial accounting - balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow. Know your debits and credits, understand assets, liabilities, etc. and examples for each. For finance, think about the core concepts in your finance classes - DCF, IRR, pricing, market analysis, valuations, etc.

It's not a financial based firm. It's a private company in the Terminal Operations and Stevedore industry.

I figured along with mostly behavioral I need to know my financial accounting inside and out, which luckily I enjoyed and did well in.

My only concern comes with the DCF, TVM, valuation etc. I'm currently in my finance class now and the next three chapters covered are all on those core concepts lol. If the interview was in a month I'd be fine but but there's nothing I can really do about that, do you think they would ding me because of that?
